Coaches on the hot seat know the obligatory "vote of confidence" from administrators often is a harbinger of unemployment to come, but Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin isn't even getting that formality. Asked Friday at a Texas Tribune event whether Sumlin's job is safe, Texas A&M chancellor John Sharp said merely: "I'm not the athletic director." While that is in fact true, Sharp's tone said it all. Just before that comment, he had been asked in jest by the moderator if he was "still steamed" about the Aggies' collapse against UCLA in the season opener.
