The deadline to issue a fifth year to New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram's contract has come and gone and it appears the Saints have declined the option. A league source said there had been no movement involving an extension as of Friday afternoon and there's no indication via the NFLPA that an extension had been issued. As of Saturday morning, it listed Ingram's contract ending in 2014. The Saints haven't responded to inquiries Saturday morning on Ingram's contract extension with the deadline passing at 11 p.m. Friday night. There's been numerous reports leading up to the deadline stating the Saints didn't intend to issue a fifth-year extension on Ingram, the team's second first-round pick in the 2011 NFL draft at No. 28 overall. It would have been a $5.2 million base salary price tag for Ingram in 2015 if the team triggered the option.
