The Texans have restructured veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks' contract, creating $7 million in salary-cap space by paying him a $10 million signing bonus and adding voidable years to the deal, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.

The Texans lowered Cooks' $12 million salary cap figure to $5 million in 2021 with the $10 million signing bonus and he's now due a $2.5 million base salary this year. They also added voidable years in 2023 and 2024 to spread out the impact of his signing bonus.
