The Titans have informed wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins they plan to release him. Hawkins, a fourth round draft pick in 2008, caught just five passes for 62 yards in 2012. He had a breakout season in 2011, when he caught 47 passes for 470 yards and touchdown. The Titans signed Hawkins to a three-year, $7.2 million contract last season at a time when they had plenty of uncertainty at the position, including Kenny Britt coming off knee surgery. Hawkins received a $2 million signing bonus as a part of the contract and was scheduled to make $1.9 million in 2013. The Titans drafted wide receiver Kendall Wright with their first-round pick last year and drafted former University of Tennessee wide receiver Justin Hunter in the second round this year. They also signed veteran receiver Kevin Walter this offseason.
