Miami’s starting quarterback competition did not go Tate Martell’s way, and the Ohio State transfer apparently took the news hard.
Martell did not attend the Hurricanes’ practice on Monday, the school confirmed to Inside the U, which first reported the news. The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson reported that Martell was expected to attend a team meeting later in the evening. It’s unclear whether Martell attended the meeting.
Martell transferred from Ohio State to Miami and was granted a waiver to play immediately. He likely expected to become the starter, but that did not happen as Jarren Williams won the starting gig.
