Mike Moustakas played two innings in the field Saturday night in the Milwaukee Brewers' 3-2 win over the Chicago Cubs, but once his turn came to bat in the eighth inning, he was lifted in favor of pinch-hitter Hernan Perez. The plan was never to let Moustakas swing a bat as he recovers from a deep bruise in his wrist.

Moustakas again took the field for just one inning Sunday – the fourth – when Milwaukee checked Orlando Arcia out of the game and moved Hernan Perez to short. Moustakas was lifted for pinch-hitter David Freitas in the bottom half of the frame when Milwaukee rallied for five runs.

"Anything I can do to help, I'm here to do," Moustakas said Sunday. "If that means going to play defense for a couple innings; it gave (manager Craig Counsell) a couple more innings to figure out what he wanted to do with HP and all that stuff. Anything I can do to help right now, that's what I'm here to do."

Progress has been slow since Moustakas took a ball off his hand Aug. 26 against St. Louis. He was scheduled to take some swings in the batting cage before Sunday's game and hopes to maintain a steady trajectory of improvement.
