The Suns are targeting a return for injured guard Devin Booker “right around Christmas,” General Manager Ryan McDonough said Wednesday. Phoenix plays the Memphis Grizzlies at Talking Stick Resort Arena on Dec. 26 and then has two days off before playing the Sacramento Kings on Dec. 29. Booker was initially given a two-to-three-week recovery period after straining his left adductor muscle against Toronto on Dec. 5. The game against the Grizzlies would be exactly three weeks out from the injury. McDonough said the Suns are hopeful Booker can start practicing sometime next week and that his timetable will then be adjusted based on how his body responds. “Especially with this injury, it’s more dependent on how he feels rather than hard and fast time, say from knee surgery,” McDonough said. “And after he’s fully healed up, he’ll have to get back in pretty good cardio shape. It’s not like he’s going to come back in the exact same shape he was before he was injured.”
