Tim Lincecum took the mound on Day 1 of the Melky Cabrera suspension, threw 38 first-inning pitches and exited after four innings. "It had nothing to do with anything that went on today," Lincecum said after the Giants fell 6-4 to the Nationals. "It's just like a day where (a player) gets a day off, so you've got to take it that way." Manager Bruce Bochy said he addressed his players about the suspension 60 to 90 minutes before the first pitch. Lincecum was not in the meeting, instead preparing for his start and focused on continuing his groove following the All-Star break.
