Stanford junior Bryce Love has won the Doak Walker Award, given to the nation’s top running back. The winner was announced on Wednesday night at the Home Depot College Football Awards show in Atlanta. Love ran for 1,973 yards this season, second-most in FBS, with 17 touchdowns, topping the 100-yard mark in 11 of 12 games he played. Love had 12 rushes of 50-plus yards this season, most by any player. He needs another 47 yards to break Christian McCaffrey’s school record set in 2015. Love was accompanied at the Home Depot Awards by Stanford coach David Shaw and two members of his offensive line, senior center Jesse Burkett and senior tackle David Bright.
