When the Stanford football team begins spring practice next Monday, wide receiver Kodi Whitfield, who made perhaps the catch of the year during a win over UCLA, will find himself playing free safety. The change was announced by a tweet from @StanfordFball, which is the football program's official Twitter account. Whitfield was the team's third-leading receiver last season, catching 16 passes for 170 yards, including a circus touchdown grab in the 24-10 victory over the Bruins. But four of the Cardinal's top six receivers return, including Ty Montgomery and Devon Cajuste, the team's top two pass-catchers. They combined for 89 receptions last season, 61 by Montgomery.
