Southampton could demand up to £75million from Liverpool for Virgil van Dijk. The Reds are facing an almighty battle to secure Van Dijk's services despite the defender admitting that he is keen on a move to Anfield. Southampton have reacted angrily to the news that Van Dijk is pushing for an exit following approaches from Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea, report the Liverpool Echo. They contacted the Premier League on Tuesday to investigate whether there had been an illegal approach from Liverpool for the player. And that will be the first act of a concerted attempt to make life as difficult as possible for the Reds to sign van Dijk. Reports on the South Coast claim the Southampton board have met to discuss their strategy having been accused of too easily selling their best players in recent times, with Liverpool alone having snapped up Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne and Rickie Lambert.
