Kory Holden’s brief career at South Carolina is over. The redshirt junior guard has left the program, the Gamecocks announced just before their tipoff against No. 10 Auburn on Saturday. No reason was given except that Holden made the decision to leave. Rated the second-best transfer in the nation when he committed to USC before the 2016-17 season, Holden’s career was sidetracked by injuries. He sat out the Gamecocks’ run to the Final Four last year but was a valuable practice player, until he injured a knee for the third time. Holden averaged nearly 17 points per game at Delaware but his knee was slow to recover at USC. His minutes were climbing until he severely hurt his hamstring during a Dec. 19 loss at Clemson.
