South Carolina will get its leading scorer back next season with guard AJ Lawson announcing Wednesday he has officially withdrawn his name from consideration for the NBA Draft and will return for his junior year.

“I’m happy to announce that I am withdrawing my name from the NBA Draft and returning to school for my junior season as a Gamecock,” Lawson posted on Twitter. “I want to thank all of the teams that gave me the opportunity to speak with them over the last couple of months and I’m excited to be back in Columbia.”

Lawson arrived back on campus with his teammates two weeks ago to begin preparation for the season despite his name still being in the draft pool.
