In the wake of Eric Wright’s failed trade with the 49ers and subsequent release, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will bring in running back/fullback Peyton Hillis for a tryout. According to a source, Hillis is scheduled to work out for the team Tuesday and is among several free agents the Bucs plan to work out. A seventh-round draft pick by the Broncos in 2008, Hillis spent two years in Denver before being traded to the Cleveland Browns. In 2010, Hillis rushed for 1,177 yards with 477 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns. But Hills has yet to duplicate that magic. Injuries have taken a toll, and there has been talk of him struggling to get along with teammates. He inked a one-year deal with the Chiefs last offseason. Relegated to a backup role, he rushed for 309 yards in 2012. If the Bucs do sign Hillis, it would make for a crowded group of fullbacks heading into camp.
