As the world remembers 9/11, the sports world paid tribute to the 2001 tragedy Tuesday. Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano reflected back on the earth-shattering news. He was just a rookie back then with the Yankees, playing in New York City. "Eleven years, time flies," Soriano said, according to MLB.com. "That was my first year in the big leagues. Now it's 11 years. It's a long time. "I just remember when that happened, the most important thing was how we played in the playoffs that year for the city. We tried to give what the city needed at the moment." For some, sports are a way of life. But for most, sports are just a distraction from real life, a way to spend one's down time in an entertaining way.
