There are a bunch of trolls out there in the social media world, but not many of them can say they have tricked a bunch of people on a consistent basis quite like SportsTalkBarry or Barry McCockiner or whatever else he goes by when his account gets hacked or deleted.
That was the case on Sunday after reports surfaced that Antonio Brown skipped practice because he was upset over not being able to use a schutt air advantage helmet, a model type that he had been using since he came into the league with the Steelers.
After that news dropped, troll account @DocMcCockiner changed his name to NFL insider lan Rapoport as well as his profile photo and threw out a truly believable tweet.
Shocking news, Antonio Brown has just informed the #Raiders that he is retiring.— Barry McCockiner (SEE PINNED TWEET) (@DocMcCockiner) August 18, 2019
Sources confirm that Brown called #Raiders GM Mike Mayock and demanded that the team sign Colin Kaepernick or else he'd retire. Mayock said no, so Brown retired.— Barry McCockiner (SEE PINNED TWEET) (@DocMcCockiner) August 18, 2019
Those two tweets were plenty enough for fans and verified accounts to get completely fooled, and @DocMcCockiner made sure to note who he tricked.
