The NHL and NHLPA announced on Thursday that an arbitrator upheld the NHL's one-season suspension for former Los Angeles Kings defenceman Slava Voynov, but will credit him with having already served 41 games during 2018-19.

He will be eligible to return to the league at the mid-point of the 2019-20 season.

Voynov was suspended indefinitely in October 2014 after being arrested and accused of domestic abuse of his wife. He pleaded no contest to a misdemeanour, left the United States to go back to Russia and in July had the conviction dismissed by a judge in Los Angeles.
