Jeff Skinner, who took a big hit from Ottawa Senators defenseman Jared Cowen in Tuesday's game in Ottawa, will be back in the Canes' lineup tonight for the Philadelphia Flyers. Skinner, 20, has suffered concussions in each of the past two seasons, and initially there was concern the hit from Cowen, listed at 6-5 and 235 pounds, might have caused a third. But Skinner has no concussions issues. Nor, he said, does he have any issue with Cowen or the hit. "He's a big guy obviously," Skinner said. "I only looked at the hit once or two. It's pretty compact. His arms are in. I'm kinda leaning forward and there's not much he can do. He's trying to take the body and it's a physical game. "That play happens all the time in a game. Guys are going to run into each other. I don't think it was dirty. I think it's a clean hit." The hit from Cowen knocked Skinner out of the game, forcing him to return to Raleigh for medical tests.
