Philadelphia 76ers backup forward Amir Johnson wants to put the cellphone fiasco during Game 1 of the first-round playoff series behind him.
Johnson was caught on camera using his phone while on the bench, a clear violation of NBA rules. He was eventually asked to leave the game by the Sixers staff. Later in the evening, the NBA veteran apologized and was fined by the team for his conduct.
Now, Johnson told Dave McMenamin of ESPN that he wants to forget about the incident and “sweep it under the rug.”
“I really want to sweep it under the rug and that’s that. I apologized to my teammates and the organization and I hate that there was so much attention on the cellphone,” Johnson said.
