Slowly but surely, the Giants' 2010 World Series roster is breaking up. Of the 25 players, nine are gone - the latest being Cody Ross - and two more could be omitted on Monday. The Giants needed to upgrade their offense and traded for Angel Pagan and Melky Cabrera, turning some 2010 champs into casualties. Andres Torres and Ramon Ramirez were sent to the Mets for Pagan, and Jonathan Sanchez went to Kansas City for Cabrera. Wednesday, general manager Brian Sabean officially severed ties with Ross and Carlos Beltran, free-agent outfielders whose anticipated contracts wouldn't be in harmony with the $130 million payroll, which Sabean said is pretty much maxed out. "Simply put, with Ross, we could never get on the same page," he said, "and Beltran, we knew it was going to be a stretch."
