Eugene Melnyk hasn't closed the book on the Erik Karlsson investigation. Speaking on Sportsnet radio The Fan 590 in Toronto Tuesday night, Melnyk told the station he shouldn't have used the word "forensic," but his experts are still working to find out if Pittsburgh's Matt Cooke skate slash on Karlsson's Achilles tendon was accidental. Melnyk told the hosts he wasn't going to get into the details of what the experts he's hired in Toronto are looking at because he didn't want to shell out a $100,000 fine. "I shouldn't have used the word forensic," said Melnyk. "People made fun of that word. They started this whole thing: CSI Ottawa because I used one stupid word ... but it was no joke. "I will present my findings to the league and then they can decide what they want to do with it."
