Christian Wolanin can unpack his bags because he won’t be going anywhere in the immediate future.

The Ottawa Senators’ defenceman cleared waivers Friday at noon when the other 30 NHL teams opted not to pick him up and was immediately assigned to the taxi squad until a decision is made on his future.

Making $900,000 on a one-way contract, Wolanin hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular with the Senators. He was a healthy scratch for the club’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs Thursday at home.
