It might have taken awhile to come together, but today’s celebration of the Florida State football team’s 2013 national championship should be a memorable event for the Seminoles and their fans. Beginning at 9 a.m., fans will begin congregating at Doak Campbell Stadium’s Langford Green, where they can have photos taken with the BCS national championship trophy. They also will be able to visit the Indoor Practice Facility to see where FSU’s football team begins each practice. Fans who visit Florida State’s famed “Sod Cemetery” will be able to see pieces of turf taken following the Seminoles’ victories at Florida, in the ACC Championship Game and at the Rose Bowl; those mementos will be on display in small caskets before they are buried. At 11 a.m., fans will be allowed to enter Doak Campbell Stadium for the formal celebration, scheduled to begin at noon. Once the celebration has concluded, FSU will invite fans onto the field to congratulate the Seminoles personally during a meet-and-greet session. Seeking autographs will not be permitted, however, because it would limit how many fans each player has time to meet. Following the event, 20,000 free commemorative posters will be given to fans as they exit the stadium. The event, which is free, will conclude by 2 p.m., so that fans have time to get to the Seminole men’s basketball team’s home game against Clemson at 3 p.m.
