Aside from a disappointing finish to the year, Jared Goff certainly took a big step forward in 2018. He made his second straight Pro Bowl and prior to the Rams’ Week 12 bye, he was a legitimate MVP candidate.

He proved he’s a true franchise quarterback in L.A. and deserving of a long-term extension in the next year or so. Sure, there are areas of his game that could still use work and he’ll hopefully continue to develop under the guidance of Sean McVay, but the Rams coach doesn’t think Goff has much else to prove.

He certainly doesn’t have to show he’s “the man,” as Rich Eisen asked McVay on Friday.

“I think he’s already the man. I think he’s had a lot of moments,” McVay said. “His teammates believe in him, his coaches believe in him. I think it’s just continuing to do what you do at a higher level. It’s ‘Can I continue to make great decisions? Can I continue to make throws with accuracy and anticipation?’”
