Well, that didn’t last long. The Seahawks on Wednesday confirmed cutting tight end Darren Fells, the former professional basketball player who hadn’t played football since high school. Fells played pro hoops on the international circuit. Most recently he played in Argentina, and has also played in Mexico, France, Finland and Belgium. He played college hoops at U.C. Irvine, where he was a .530-shooting forward and graduated in 2008. Now 27, Fells worked out for the Seahawks in early March and apparently was impressive enough to get a three-year contract of some sort, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported then. But Seattle waived him this week.
