A scary situation for Cincinnati and Kyriq McDonald developed during the second quarter of the Bearcats' matchup against Ohio State on Saturday in Columbus.

McDonald, a safety and Alabama transfer, collapsed in the middle of a play — a run to the left — and started convulsing on the field. A blocker had approached him in the secondary but did not hit him once he realized he was going to the ground on his own.

Once the play was over, the team gathered around McDonald near midfield. He remained down for nearly five minutes and was attended to by both Cincinnati and Ohio State medical personnel. He did not require the backboard and stretcher prepared for him and was able to stand with assistance.
