Kentucky’s battle with Texas this weekend in the Big 12/SEC Challenge has been canceled due to COVID-19 issues for the Wildcats. Kentucky has been put on a 48-hour pause, according to the release the school sent out on Friday morning.

“The Kentucky men’s basketball program has been put on a 48-hour pause, including the cancellation of Saturday’s game vs. Texas, due to a combination of positive testing, contact tracing and subsequent quarantining of individuals within the program,” the statement read. “The decision is consistent with Southeastern Conference COVID-19 and UK Athletics COVID-19 management requirements.”

The battle between Kentucky and Texas was expected to be one of the better games in this year’s Big 12/SEC Challenge, drawing the 8 p.m. ET slot on ESPN.
