San Jose State will name Jeff Konya as its new athletic director, a source tells The Athletic.
Konya succeeds Marie Tuite, who was reassigned to a fundraising role outside of the athletic department in the wake of an external investigation into sexual misconduct by the athletic department's former director of sports medicine Scott Shaw. Konya's first day will be July 12, the source says. Shaw previously denied any wrongdoing to USA Today through his attorney, Lori Costanzo.\
SJSU president Mary Papazian, a search committee and search firm TurnkeyZRG led the national search for hiring a new AD.
Konya joins the Spartans after serving as Northeastern University's athletic director since 2018. Prior to that, he worked as Oakland University's AD for four years. He is a two-time NACDA Athletics Director of the Year (2016-17 and 2020-21).
