The Sharks have claimed forward Micheal Haley off of waivers.
Haley, who played in the Sharks organization 2014-2017, from was placed on waivers Tuesday by the Florida Panthers. This season, Haley has three goals and 30 penalty minutes in 24 games.
Haley, 32, was a favorite among Sharks players for his unflinching willingness to stand up for teammates. He signed a two-year, $1.65 million contract with Florida prior to the start of the 2017-18 season, joining former Sharks assistant coach Bob Boughner, who had been hired by the Panthers earlier that summer.
Haley had played in just seven games for the Panthers this calendar year. His last game with Florida was Feb.10 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Haley has averaged 7 minutes and 31 seconds of ice time per game this season.
A Sharks team spokesman said it is unknown when Haley will be able to join the club, which begins a four-game road trip Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
