After close to 500 regular season games in the NHL, defenceman Sami Vatanen is moving on, at least for the upcoming season. Vatanen has signed a one-year deal with Genève-Servette HC of the National League in Switzerland.
Vatanen spent several seasons with the Anaheim Ducks after being drafted by the team in the fourth round in 2009. He went to the New Jersey Devils in the trade that involved Adam Henrique in 2017. After close to three seasons in New Jersey, he was dealt to Carolina at the trade deadline in 2020.
