In a bit of a surprise twist, New Orleans Saints restricted free agent safety Rafael Bush signed an offer sheet with the Atlanta Falcons, according to the NFL transactions wire. The Saints will have until April 8 to match the offer or lose Bush to Atlanta. The Saints issued Bush a one-year, $1.4 million tender earlier this offseason. Bush was the only restricted free agent the Saints tendered this offseason. New Orleans also would receive no compensation for the lose of Bush as his tender was the minimum tender allowed by the league. The team is $2,206,141 under the salary cap as of Thursday afternoon, according to the NFLPA, so it would be difficult for the Saints to afford a deal much higher than the original tender issued to Bush. The Saints agreed to terms Wednesday with Canadian Football League safety Marcus Bell on a three-year contract. The move could signify the Saints are moving on from Bush.
