Calgary Flames president and CEO Ken King says the Saddledome will be ready for pre-season action according to a report by the Globe and Mail. The report states team and building officials met Tuesday to discuss whether they could meet a target date of Sept. 1 to have the Dome operational for hockey. “From a public standpoint and from a hockey standpoint we want everything to be operational” King told the Globe and Mail. “This week was the time to decide if we could proceed as planned and the answer is ‘yes.’ ” Attempts to reach King for comment Wednesday evening were unsuccessful. The Flames first pre-season game at the Saddledome is scheduled for Sept. 14. They’ll play the Edmonton Oilers that night.
