Major League Baseball has suspended Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Ryan Borucki for three games and fined him an undisclosed amount for intentionally hitting Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier with a pitch in Wednesday night's game.

MLB made the announcement Thursday afternoon. Borucki has appealed the suspension. He will continue to be on the active roster until his appeal is heard. Meanwhile, Jays manager Charlie Montoyo is serving a one-game suspension Thursday night as Toronto opens its next series in Minnesota.

The incident came two days after Kiermaier picked up a scouting report card that had fallen out of the wristband of Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk. The Rays later declined a request to return the card.
