he Premier League season will resume on June 17th. Liverpool’s season will resume on June 20th. And, if the Reds are to sign Timo Werner by triggering his cut-rate £50M release clause, they will have to do it by June 15th.

That’s the story from The Mirror today, who claim to have put a firm expiry date on the star German striker’s release clause being triggered. The general belief, though, is that that day will come and pass with the clause untriggered.

That’s because while Werner remains the Reds’ top transfer target this summer, and while £50M is likely a bargain for Werner even in the current market, the need to pay a release clause up front as a lump sum is an issue.
