The Royals beat the Rangers by the score of 2-1 on Friday improving their record to 81-72 on the season. The win guarantees their first non-losing season in 10 years which had been the longest active streak in baseball. They went 83-79 back in 2003. Of course Kansas City held the longest losing season streak for less than three full weeks -- the Pirates snapped their historic run of 20 straight losing seasons (!) back on September 3. Ten years between non-losing seasons is a really long time but it pales in comparision to what Pittsburgh just went through. Still nice to get that monkey of your back though.
