Ron'Dell Carter, a 6-2, 235-pound junior defensive end from Long Reach (Columbia, Md.), has committed to Rutgers. Carter earned an offer less than a month ago while accompanied on an unofficial visit to campus by his father, stepmother and brother. Carter selected Rutgers over offers from Boston College, Buffalo and Old Dominion. He was also receiving attention from Nebraska, Syracuse, Temple and Dartmoth. "It feels great because now I get the benefit of being a part of this family," said Carter. "That's one thing Rutgers always stressed, the family thing. And I'm pumped up and excited, and I just know that this is the best fit for me. And I know that I am welcomed there and I will be respected. I know that I will be taken good care of because of the whole family thing. "Forget about me, I love you (F.A.M.I.L.Y.). That's the one thing I remember from when I was at Rutgers. They always stress family. Also, the fact that I know I'll get a good education there. Academically, I'll be set. Financially, after I graduate, I know I'll be set for me and my family and I also know I'll be able to compete for Big Ten championships and that's what we are all about."
