Rockies relief pitcher Edgmer Escalona was struck in the face by a groundball during a simulated game Tuesday at Salt River Field. Rockies' minor-leaguer Tim Wheeler hit a one-hop shot back at Escalona, and the ball ricocheted off his glove and hit the left side of his face near the cheek. Trainer Keith Dugger and manager Walt Weiss quickly got to Escalona, and after several minutes Escalona left the field under his own power. He will be re-evaluated Tuesday afternoon.
