The Rockets hoped to begin getting more of their backup big men back in time to play on Sunday against the Pacers a team with the frontcourt options that could allow the Rockets to look at playing centers together. Greg Smith has been practicing but has not played. Center Omer Asik had hoped to begin practicing in Taipei with Rockets trainer Keith Jones saying a decision will not be made about clearing him to practice until Saturday. “We want to get them healthy and get them out there” Rockets coach Kevin McHale said. “Greg Smith is another guy I want to take a look at. I know how he plays. Last year toward the end of the year we started Greg alongside Omer. I want to see Greg alongside Dwight (Howard). It’s been different.
