Rockets center Greg Smith, unable to overcome the knee issues that have given him trouble since November, will have arthroscopic knee surgery to address the problem, a person with knowledge of the decision said on Thursday. Smith has played in just 11 games, missing some while healthy as a backup to Dwight Howard and Omer Asik, but has been out for 36 of the Rockets 58 games because of the injury, diagnosed as a sprained right knee, and the soreness that followed.
