Los Angeles Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka was reportedly cut out of Anthony Davis trade talks between the Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans, according to Dave McMenamin and Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.
The Pelicans reportedly preferred to deal directly with Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson. New Orleans didn’t trade Davis at the February trade deadline and will look to trade him this summer.
Johnson, of course, is no longer with the Lakers. He resigned from his position.
Just months earlier, Pelinka was mostly cut out of trade talks between L.A. and New Orleans, with the Pelicans preferring to deal directly with Johnson, multiple league sources told ESPN.
Multiple reports have come out stating front offices around the league don’t like Pelinka and will avoid doing deals with him. It’s unknown why that is the case.
