The Miami Hurricanes officially named ex-Arizona State offensive coordinator Rob Likens as the team’s new wide receivers coach on Friday to complete their coaching staff.
The South Florida Sun Sentinel first learned that Likens had emerged as the leading candidate for the job on Saturday.
“We are excited to welcome Rob and his family to Coral Gables,” UM coach Manny Diaz said in a statement. “Rob has extensive experience with fast-paced, high-octane offenses and he can serve as a great teacher and motivator to the young men in our receivers room.”
Among the other finalists for the position, according to a source, were former UM great Lamar Thomas, who has coached wide receivers at Louisville and Kentucky, and Hurricanes recruiting director David Cooney.
