In the second of what probably will be two minor-league rehab starts, LHP Clayton Richard was sharp again. Facing Omaha on Tuesday, Richard threw six innings, allowing six hits and two runs in a 5-2 Tucson win Richard didn't walk a batter and had four strikeouts. He threw 94 pitches, 65 strikes and 11 of his 18 outs came on ground balls. On May 16, against Iowa, Richard allowed one run on four hits, didn't walk a batter and had eight strikeouts. He has been battling a stomach problem, forcing him to the disabled list. Around the farm: Triple-A Tucson (24-21): T-PADRES 5, Omaha 2 - 2B Dean Anna (.329) was hitless in three at-bats, but scored twice. RF Dan Robertson (.318) was 1-for-3, but scored twice. LF Brandon Allen was hitless in four at-bats, but had a pair of RBIs. RHP Brad Brach (1-0, 0.00), who was just sent down to Triple-A by the Padres, worked 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief and was the winning pitcher. Miles Mikolas (4.34 ERA) worked a scoreless ninth and earned his seventh save.
