Rich Rodriguez is getting another chance to be a head coach and will be named the next coach at Jacksonville State, a source confirmed to The Athletic. The 58-year-old former Arizona, Michigan and West Virginia coach spent the 2021 season at Louisiana Monroe as offensive coordinator.

The Gamecocks, who upset Florida State earlier this season, are moving up to the FBS level and Conference USA beginning with the 2023-24 academic year.

Rodriguez, who has a 163-119-2 record, will replace John Grass, who stepped down after eight seasons following a victory over Abilene Christian in the team’s home finale.

A lawsuit against Rodriguez alleging sexual harassment and a hostile workplace environment during his time at Arizona was dismissed in October.
