The Chicago White Sox succeeded when they signed Dayan Viciedo after he left Cuba in 2008, and they apparently have their sights set on another slugger in Latin America. According to Baseball America, the Sox have interest in signing outfielder Micker Zapata when the Major League Baseball international signing period starts July 2. Zapata, listed at 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, is considered among the top power hitters in this summer's international class, according to BA. The San Diego Padres also were among the teams linked to Zapata, according to BA.
