The Tampa Bay Rays announced on Friday they've designated four players for assignment. Catcher J.P Arencibia, outfielder Daniel Nava, and right-handed pitchers Brandon Gomes and Kirby Yates have been removed from Tampa's 40-man roster. President of baseball operations Matthew Silverman said the Rays still have interest in potentially bringing back Arencibia, but Gomes isn't a fit for their crowded bullpen. Arencibia is a former first-round pick of the Toronto Blue Jays who resurfaced with the Rays in 2015 to hit .310/.315/.606 with six home runs and 17 RBIs in 24 games.
