Realistically, a linebacker making $8.25 million against the salary cap in a season isn't a massive number. Many would probably consider it to be somewhat of a bargain, especially after the homestretch Oakland Raiders linebacker Bruce Irvin had. He put together arguably the best season of his career, tallying 58 combined tackles, 10 for loss, eight sacks and four forced fumbles. Which is why the Raiders new staff apparently wants to keep Irvin in town, but they want to do so at a discounted price. As The Athletic's John Middlekauff reported (courtesy of Raiders Beat), the push is on to get Irvin to take a pay cut, or potentially just have him test the free agent market.
