Vikings players were informed Saturday night that running back Adrian Peterson wouldn't play against the Eagles Sunday, according to Sean Jensen of K-TWIN. That means there will be no matchup of the league's best running backs when the Vikings meet the Eagles and LeSean McCoy. Peterson's backup, Toby Gerhart, who was listed as questionable this week, is also expected to miss the game. In Peterson's absence last week, Gerhart managed 89 rushing yards on 15 carries (5.9 YPC). For the Vikings, that leaves running backs Matt Asiata and Joe Barnyard (who was elevated from the practice squad Saturday). Asiata has nine career rushing yards on three carries -- all coming last season -- while Barnyard has yet to register a carry in a regular-season game.
