At the NFL owners’ meetings in Texas this week, the teams received a clearer picture of what the 2018 NFL salary cap will look like. The cap’s grown by more than $10 million in each of the past five years, and that trend could well continue come 2018. But the increase might not be quite as much as it was this year. The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the owners were informed Tuesday the 2018 salary cap will land between $174.2 million and $178.1 million. Those precise figures would ensure the league won’t have a record growth number like it did this year, when the cap spiked from $155.27M to $167M, but another sustained rise would continue to lead to ballooning salaries.
