According to The Times, Newcastle United have finally convinced Matty Longstaff to sign a new contract with the club.

It’s claimed that Longstaff has been persuaded to commit his future to the Magpies, having previously been expected to leave.

Udinese were leading the race in a move that would have landed Newcastle just £400,000 in compensation, whilst Leeds United have been interested too.

However, Longstaff now looks set to stay at Newcastle, and will earn a ‘significant improvement’ on his £800-a-week contract.
