Major League Baseball is on heightened alert as to any potential wrongdoing in the courtship of Shohei Ohtani. ESPN’s Buster Olney reported Friday that the Ohtani recruitment has been given “extraordinary scrutiny” by the league office, who recognize that the opportunity is there for potential wrongdoing in the form of third-party dealing and illegal discussion of future business opportunities. With that in mind, various officials believe that there will be an extensive investigation into Ohtani’s signing to ensure that nothing illegal took place.
